"Koayla’s commitment to words is rare. She seems to care about them in a way that our social media restlessness rarely demonstrates." — Aaron Krogman

I work with words like a chef preparing a flavourful meal; sometimes I can't help but squirm with delight over the turn of a phrase!

Live Poetry Reading Fundraiser

J&D Fun. poster final draft.png

Here lies a tale from days long gone,

During the reign of King Lyle the Mighty,

And that wondrous legend thereupon,

The Seven Knights of Canterbury.

A medieval/fantasy tale after the tradition of Beowulf, King Arthur, and the poets of old. Based on the story of David & Goliath, exploring the meaning of courage and the things that hold us back.
A good book is an investment. An investment in the sharing of knowledge and ideas, an investment in culture, and an investment in the future. A well-crafted book requires time, resource, and often a team of creative and passionate minds. I would love to invite you to participate in this investment with me.

"There was a mountain lion fell upon a foal of my master’s.

With this knife in my hand and a prayer on my lips, I went after.

“I smote him, and delivered the foal.

Upon the grass the dread cat rolled,

“Then arose and came once more against me.

I smote again, and he lay at my feet.

“The LORD gave the lion into my hand.

So shall this dragon drop at his command.”

King Lyle nodded his head slowly.

“Go, and the Lord be with thee.”

Audience: Children welcome, though parents be advised this story does contain violence, mildly described, my passion being to look at the emotional/psychological effects of violence without getting into the gruesome details.
